The design for this penthouse condo terrace at the newly redesigned 1 Hotel South Beach, was focused on providing shade and breaking down the vast area into individual activity areas to achieve a multifunctional and diverse activity space that enjoys unobstructed views to the ocean and the city. I started by
locating a new pool and lounge deck built above slab, and three square large shading trellis surrounding the indoor living areas of the units. The remaining spaces where thought to be intimate and complementary to activate the uses of the entire terrace. Proposed a long trellis hung form an existing structure that
would help frame areas for yoga practice, sitting areas, a hammock spot, and a wind sheltered fire pit sitting area. Also proposed a sunrise lounge and a sunset bar, outdoor kitchen and outdoor gym, a sauna, and a hot tub, all complemented by grass patches and tropical landscape among the trellises.
The materials suggested where to be complimentary to the palette of materials already used by the hotel development.
